Open call for the IARU Summer School “Borderland: Critical Approaches to Field Research in the Global South”
The IARU Summer School on “Borderland: Critical Approaches to Field Research in the Global South” combines research, education and a NGO placement experience. Advanced Bachelor students as well as Master students from the IARU network (including ETH Zurich) are invited to apply before 1st March.
When: 29th June - 21st July 2020
Where: Chiang Mai, Thailand
Who: Advanced undergraduate (bachelor level) and postgraduate (master level) from universities in the International Alliance of Research Universities (external page IARU) – open for students from all disciplines
Credit Points: ECTS 7.5

Centering on the concept of “borderland” and the themes of Land and Water, this course offered by external page UC Berkeley and external page University of Copenhagen, in collaboration with external page Chiang Mai University, engages students from multiple disciplines in thinking critically about the research process, epistemologies, and ethics in conducting research.
Students will interact with international and local scholars in structured seminars, and with communities and organizations working to address pressing local, regional and global issues through their placement with local NGOs and research projects.
