More information on the summer school

The ETH Sustainability Summer School 2020 "Rethinking Waste" offers a unique learning experience: theoretical and practical knowledge gained via scientific presentations, workshops and group work.

20 students from ETH Zürich and 40 students from KNUST, all from diverse academic backgrounds and cultures, will participate in an intensive three-week learning experience, which will enable them to get first-hand experiences of global challenges and provide them an opportunity to work in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural settings towards a common goal. All of this will happen in inland Ghana in Kumasi, on and off campus of KNUST.

We will combine input by lecturers from KNUST and ETH Zürich with insights from local experts, NGO's and workers in waste management. Furthermore, a diverse programme with several excursions sets the ten interdisciplinary student teams on the course of finding their favourite problem in solid waste management and develop solutions together. In addition, five master's or doctoral students from both KNUST and ETH will have the opportunity to get trained and act as tutors.

Applications for tutors is open until 9th February 2020 and applications for students will open on 14th February 2020.
