Open calls for E4D Scholarships, ETH4D Faculty Exchange and ETH4D Visiting Student Grants

E4D Scholarships

The Engineering for Development (E4D) promotes research and education for the benefit of underprivileged people in low-​income countries, by offering the following scholarship programmes:

Promoting doctoral research and innovative projects that are directly relevant for improving the livelihoods of underprivileged people in low-income countries.
Grant sum: 175 kCHF to cover the salary costs of the doctoral students for three years.
 

Aiming to enhance the knowledge and skills of future leaders with the perspective of contributing to capacity development and poverty reduction in their home countries.
Grant sum: Economy roundtrip ticket (max. 2 kCHF), visa fees, living allowance for the duration of the programme (2.3 kCHF/month).

Faculty Exchange Grants

Faculty Exchange Grants aim to foster collaboration between ETH faculty members and partners from institutions in lower income countries by offering:

which allow ETH scientists to bring collaborators from the Global South to ETH Zurich for a research stay or a workshop/conference attendance.
Grant sum: max. 10kCHF.
 

which allow ETH scientists to travel to partner institutions in the Global South for lectures, courses and collaboration meetings.
Grant sum: max. 5kCHF.

Visiting Student Grant

The visiting student grants allow ETH professors to bring a collaborating doctoral or master student from low- and middle-income countries to ETH Zurich for a research stay of 2-3 months. The student will spend the exchange stay at an ETH laboratory to learn new methodologies, techniques or develop his/her research project in a new academic setting. Moreover, she or he will expand her or his academic network.

Grant sum: max. 10 kCHF from which living allowances, travel and visa fees are covered.
Project duration: max 3 months.
