KNUST Students Join ETH Summer Schools

Since 2020, ETH4D has been collaborating with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Ghana, to educate the next generation of leaders in global sustainable development. This year, we welcomed eight KNUST students in Switzerland, who participated in various ETH and IDEA League summer schools in Zurich and Geneva.

Rachel Yayra Adjoe participated in the ETH Robotics Summer School, offered by the ETH Centre for Robotics, where she worked with a team on programming a (semi)-autonomous rough-terrain UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) and tested it in a variety of challenging field environments.

Jesse Essuman Johnson, Ebenezer Martey and Isaac Duah took part in the IDEA League “Cexternal page omputational Design for Additive Manufacturing Summer School,” co-organised by the ETH Engineering Design and Computing Laboratory. In teams, they explored the potential of different computational-based strategies, methods and tools in design for additive manufacturing and applied them to improve various parts of a bicycle.

Henrietta Brew Ntim-Addae, Jeff Kojo Natha and Simeon Stevenson Turay joined the Summer School “Dense and Green Cities: Exploring New Models of Integrated Urban Development” at ETH Hönggerberg, organised by the ETH Future Cities Laboratory. They explored interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approaches of urban planning and urban design using computational tools.

Gloria Edumaba Graham was awarded the ETH Robotics Student Fellowship by the ETH RobotX Centre, which offers graduate students the opportunity to research alongside experts on a specific topic of robotics of their choice. Gloria will work with the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab between July and August. The ETH Robotics Student Fellowship is open to students worldwide.
