The SDG Pitch event went into it's third round with exciting ideas from students at ETH and UZH who are working towards a sustainable future.  

Through the ETH4D Mentorship Programme Christopher Kanyesigye is collaborating with Dr. Sara Marks, EAWAG on his doctoral project on the evaluation of the effectiveness of Water Safety Plan implementation in small towns of Uganda.

ETH Doctoral Student Alexander Nedergaard worked as a teaching assistant at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Rwanda for three months. In this interview, he talks about the intensive time with his students, the welcoming atmosphere at AIMS, and what he learned during his stay.

This year’s Global Development Summer School - a collaboration between ETH for Development (ETH4D) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana - dealt with sustainable solid waste management. From August 31^st to September 16^th, a total of 48 students from ETH Zurich and KNUST immersed themselves in the topic of waste and worked together to identify feasible solutions that tackle global waste management challenges.  

An upcoming seminar with Dr. Samuel Kofi Tetteh-​Baah, economist at the World Bank, will focus on how the international poverty line is determined and what its recent increase means for global poverty.
